The Green Lake Mix Combo Tour is one of the easiest days out from Side, no rapids, no trekking, no gear list of specialist kit. But it is a genuine multi-stop day: a mosque, a waterfall, an old Silk Road bridge, a village, Roman ruins and a one-hour boat cruise on a mountain lake, all inside about six hours. A little smart packing makes every stop comfortable. Here is exactly what our guides recommend, and why.
The one rule that matters: dress for the mosque
The first stop of the day is Manavgat's grand mosque, where the local imam welcomes visitors inside. Out of respect for the working religious site, shoulders and knees must be covered, for everyone. You do not need to change your whole outfit; the simple fix is a light scarf, shawl or overshirt you can throw on at the door and stuff back in your bag two minutes later. Shorts that reach the knee also solve it. Guests who forget usually end up borrowing a towel, which works, but a scarf photographs better.
For the boat cruise and open-air stops
The highlight of the day is the one-hour cruise on Green Lake, and you will also spend time outdoors at the waterfall viewpoint, the aqueducts and the orange orchards. Pack:
- Sun protection, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. On open water there is little natural shade.
- A light layer. The lake is freshwater and fed from the mountains, so the air over the water feels noticeably cooler than the beach in Side. A thin cardigan or shirt is enough.
- Camera or smartphone, charged. Between mosque architecture, the waterfall, village life and the emerald lake framed by the Taurus mountains, this route produces more photos than most full-day trips.
On your feet: comfort over style
You will walk on old stone at Naras Bridge, uneven ground at the Roman aqueducts, village paths and a restaurant jetty. None of it is strenuous, this is a relaxed sightseeing day suitable for grandparents, but flip-flops make it harder than it needs to be. Comfortable closed walking shoes or solid sandals are ideal.
Money: small and simple
The €25 price already covers your transfer, guide, lakeside lunch, boat cruise, fishing equipment and insurance, so you do not need much cash. Bring a modest amount for the things that are deliberately optional:
- Drinks with lunch and during the day
- The Manavgat Waterfall enclosure ticket, if you choose to go in
- Wildlife park admission at the optional lion-cub stop
- A fresh gözleme at the village house, souvenirs, orchard fruit
The full cost breakdown is in our prices guide if you want to budget the day to the euro.
Nice-to-haves our guides always mention
- A small daypack: one bag for the scarf, sunscreen, water and camera beats juggling pockets across seven stops.
- Swimwear? Not needed. This is a scenic cruise, not a swimming trip; the day is about views, not laps. If you love being in the water, pair this tour with a beach day.
- Motion-comfort tablets if you are very sensitive, though the lake is calm and the cruise gentle, which is exactly why families choose it.
- Wet wipes, village gözleme and orchard oranges are hands-on pleasures.
What to leave at the hotel
Big beach bags, drones (ask us first, rules vary at religious and protected sites), and anything valuable you would worry about. The vehicles are air-conditioned and your bag stays with you all day, but a light load suits a seven-stop day.
