The Experience

Eleven hours, and Suluada is not close — better you hear that here than on the coach. From Antalya, Kemer or Beldibi the coach runs south along the Lycian coast for an hour and a half to two hours, pine forest on one side, the sea flashing between hills on the other, your guide filling in the shoreline as it goes. The road ends at Adrasan, a fishing village with a wooden jetty, and the boat takes over. Suluada lies about forty-five minutes out: a small uninhabited island whose pale sand and startlingly clear water earned it the nickname the Maldives of Turkey. The captain works a string of sheltered coves, the calm water off Domuz Bay among them, and the island's twin beaches. Masks and floats are aboard for anyone who wants them, and lunch comes off the grill and onto the deck around the middle of the day. Between stops the boat runs beneath pine-covered cliffs and into inlets no road will ever reach. The fare covers transfers, the full day afloat with a local crew, lunch, snorkelling gear, marine insurance and harbour fees. Drinks, fishing gear hire, photographs and tips are not included. Non-swimmers are welcome and life jackets appear on request; wear flat, non-slip shoes for the deck. And if a long travel day with small children sounds like hard work, one of our shorter trips nearer Antalya or Side will suit you better. You pay on the day, and cancelling stays free until 24 hours before.

Questions & Answers

What makes the Suluada boat trip so special?+

Suluada is a small uninhabited island with soft white beaches and vivid turquoise water that many compare to the Maldives. The day is built around swimming, snorkelling and free time in the island's crystal-clear coves, with a grilled lunch served on board.

How long does it take to reach Suluada from Antalya?+

Your transfer first takes you to Adrasan harbour, roughly a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from the Antalya area. From there it is about a 45-minute boat cruise out to Suluada itself.

Can I swim and snorkel around the island?+

Absolutely. There are several swim stops in the turquoise water, and the clear sea is perfect for snorkelling. Bring your own mask if you prefer, or use the snorkelling equipment provided on board.

What should I bring for the tour?+

Pack swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat, plus a waterproof phone case if you have one. Keen snorkellers are welcome to bring their own gear.

Is this trip suitable for children?+

Yes. The shallow, clean coves make it a great choice for families and children can swim safely, though we ask parents to keep a close eye on little ones throughout the day on the water.
