Side Buggy Safari: Your Questions, Answered by the Operator

"Do I need experience to drive a buggy?" is the first thing most guests ask at the desk. That one and the questions behind it are answered below for the Side Buggy Safari, by the team that runs it.

Do I need experience to drive a buggy?

No. The tour is built for complete beginners. Every guest gets a full briefing on driving dynamics, track conditions, and safety, followed by a supervised test drive before the real route begins. The buggies are automatic and easy to handle. Seat time comes down to skill and confidence: guests who control the vehicle comfortably in the test drive take the wheel, and anyone who prefers not to drive rides as a passenger and enjoys exactly the same track.

Where do you pick up from, and when will I know my time?

Two-way hotel transfer is included and runs from hotels across the Side region. Pickups are typically morning or afternoon depending on your session, and your exact pickup is confirmed personally when you book: we contact you directly rather than leaving you to guess from a leaflet. We run several sessions a day, so there is flexibility to fit the buggy around your holiday plans.

How long does the tour take?

Plan for around 4 hours door to door, including transfers, the briefing, and the test drive. Actual driving time on the track is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, genuine seat time, not a ten-minute loop.

Can my children come?

Yes, and families are a big part of our groups. The minimum age to drive is 16; children from age 6 ride as passengers, securely belted next to the driver. Pricing follows suit: adults €30, children €18, infants free. For the full family picture, see our first-timer and family guide.

Can two people share one buggy?

Yes: the buggies are two-seaters with the passenger belted in beside the driver. Couples and parent-child pairs share all the time, and you can swap the fun around by agreement with your instructor at suitable points.

What kind of terrain is it? Will I really get dirty?

Dirt roads, forest paths, and rocky trails, rugged, dusty, and muddy, with water-splash stops along the route. Yes, you will get properly dirty; that is the product. Our base has free showers and changing cabins, so bring a complete change of clothes and you will leave clean. Our what to bring guide covers the full kit list.

What does the price include: and what costs extra?

The ticket covers hotel transfer both ways, the briefing, the test drive, the full driving session, and use of the showers and cabins. Optional extras sold at the base: protective goggles, bandanas, food and drinks, and the professional photo and video package. Full breakdown in our prices guide.

What happens if the weather turns?

Buggies and weather get along better than you would think, rain makes the track muddier, which most guests count as an upgrade. In the rare case conditions ever made a session unsafe to run, you would lose nothing: reservations are free, payment is only on the tour day, and we would move you to another session or cancel without charge.

How does booking and cancellation work?

Reservation is free, you pay on the day of the tour, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. No deposit, no prepayment, no card details. We are Atalay Tours, the direct local operator, so there are no middlemen, no booking fees, and no hidden costs anywhere in the process.

Is there an option with water crossings?

Yes: our exclusive River Side track adds water entries and river crossings for guests who want to push the adrenaline further and do not mind getting soaked. It is priced differently from the standard route; message us on WhatsApp when booking to check availability and the current price difference.

I have back or neck issues: can I still join?

The track is bumpy by design, so guests with back or neck issues should choose the passenger seat rather than drive, and mention it to us at booking so our instructors keep an eye out. If in doubt about your own condition, check with your doctor first: we would rather you ask than guess.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Dark old clothes, closed shoes, a complete change of clothes, a towel, and ID for whoever drives, it is required at the base. Everything else, from safety gear to showers, is handled at the facility. Wondering how the buggy day fits into the rest of your holiday? Our complete Side excursions guide lays out the whole region.
