Green Canyon is the emerald reservoir hidden in the mountains above Manavgat: Turkey's largest canyon reservoir, and one of the first trips anyone staying on the Antalya Riviera hears about. We run two versions of the day ourselves: a 4.5-hour boat tour and a 2.5-hour catamaran cruise. And because we charge exactly the same for both, we have no reason to steer you toward either one. What follows is the comparison we give guests over the phone every week.
The Two Tours at a Glance
- Green Canyon Boat Tour: 4.5 hours on the water, swimming stops in the crystal-clear reservoir, and a freshly prepared lunch served on board. Adults €33, children aged 3–11 €18.
- Green Canyon Catamaran Tour: 2.5 hours on a spacious catamaran with open deck space, and a stop on the water to swim before the boat turns back. Adults €33, children aged 3–11 €18.
Both cruise the same water: the vast, sheltered reservoir above Oymapinar Dam, framed by steep pine-covered canyon walls. Both are among our bestsellers. The difference is not where you go: it is how long you stay, and what shape the rest of your day takes.
Same Price, So the Money Question Disappears
This is the unusual part, and it makes the decision refreshingly clean. A family of two adults and two children pays 2 × €33 + 2 × €18 = €102: on either tour. There is no budget version and no premium version; you are choosing between two lengths of the same beautiful day. If you want the full cost picture, including exactly what the ticket covers, our Green Canyon prices guide breaks it down line by line.
The 4.5-Hour Boat Tour: For People Who Want the Whole Experience
The classic Green Canyon Boat Tour is the trip we recommend to first-timers with a free day. The longer route simply buys you more of everything: more time cruising through the quietest corners of the canyon, more swimming stops in the cool, emerald water, and a proper lunch prepared fresh and served on board while the mountains slide past. It is a relaxed day rather than a party trip, nature at an easy pace.
It suits you best if:
- This is your first visit to Green Canyon and you want to see it properly, not in passing.
- You love swimming in fresh water, the extra stops are the heart of the longer tour.
- You would rather have lunch on the water than rush back for a hotel buffet.
- You are a couple looking for an unhurried, scenic day together, the slow middle stretch of the cruise is the most romantic part of the canyon.
The 2.5-Hour Catamaran: The Easygoing Half-Day
The Green Canyon Catamaran Tour exists for a simple reason: not everyone wants to give a whole day to one excursion, however lovely. In two and a half hours you still get the essential Green Canyon experience, gliding between the canyon walls on calm, sheltered water, panoramic mountain views from the open deck, and a swim stop in the reservoir, and you are back with most of your day still ahead of you.
It suits you best if:
- You are travelling with young children whose patience has a natural time limit, the catamaran's length and gentle pace are built for families.
- You prefer a gentler rhythm: less time in transit, one good swim, plenty of deck space to sit and watch the scenery.
- You want to combine the canyon with something else, a beach afternoon, shopping in Manavgat, or simply the pool.
- Someone in your group is a reluctant sailor: shorter and sheltered is the easiest possible introduction to a boat day.
A Word for Thrill-Seekers
We would rather tell you this before you book than have you find out on deck: Green Canyon is calm water. The reservoir is flat, sheltered and serene: that stillness is precisely its magic, but it means neither tour is an adrenaline ride. If your holiday checklist leans toward speed and splash, treat Green Canyon as your recovery day and browse our complete local guide to Side excursions for the wilder options we run along the coast and in the mountains.
What Stays the Same, Whichever You Pick
- Hotel pickup can be arranged from the Side and Manavgat area every day, from Alanya every day in the summer season, and from Belek and Antalya on Mondays and Thursdays. Your exact pickup time is confirmed personally the evening before.
- Reservation is free and you pay on the tour day, no deposit, no prepayment.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour, so choosing "wrong" costs you nothing but a phone message.
- Children aged 3–11 join at the reduced €18 rate on both tours.
Our Rule of Thumb
If it is your first time at Green Canyon and you have a free day: take the 4.5-hour boat tour, the lunch and the extra hours on the water are worth it. If you are travelling with small children, or the canyon has to share the day with other plans: the catamaran gives you the postcard without the commitment. And if you are still torn, our Green Canyon FAQ answers the practical questions guests ask us most: or just send us a message and we will tell you, honestly, which one fits your group.
