Never Ridden a Quad? You're Exactly Who This Tour Is For
Most guests on our Side Quad ATV Safari have never sat on an ATV before. The tour is built around that fact: every session starts with a detailed safety briefing from our certified instructors covering how the machine works and how the track runs, followed by a supervised test drive where you get comfortable at your own pace before anyone heads for the forest. Nobody is waved onto the route until they are in genuine control of their quad.
Driving here is skill-based. If you complete the briefing and handle the test drive confidently, you drive. If the machine does not click for you, you simply switch to a passenger seat and enjoy the same route with someone else at the handlebars. No embarrassment, no wasted money.
The Age Rules, Plainly
- Driving solo: minimum age 16.
- Riding as a passenger: from age 6, securely belted.
- Infants join free on the tour; children pay €15 and adults €25, see the full price breakdown.
In practice this means a typical family splits like this: parents and teens of 16+ each drive their own quad, younger kids ride belted behind a parent, and everyone does the same trail together. Children consistently rate the passenger seat as the highlight of the holiday: all of the mud, none of the responsibility.
How Hard Is It?
Here is the truthful difficulty picture, not the brochure version:
- The machines are beginner-friendly. The test drive exists precisely so you build confidence before the real route. Most first-timers are grinning within minutes.
- The track is off-road. One and a half to two hours through forest trails, natural obstacles, mud and water splashes. It is bumpy and dusty by design: this is not a paved sightseeing loop.
- Fitness needs are modest: if you can ride and steer confidently after the test drive, you can do the route. But the bumps are real: guests with back or neck issues should take the passenger seat rather than drive.
- You will get dirty. Gloriously so. Old dark clothes, closed shoes, a change of clothing and a towel are essential: our packing guide has the full checklist.
A Family's Day, Start to Finish
The whole experience takes about four hours door to door, which is the sweet spot for families, big enough to be the day's main event, short enough that nobody melts down.
- Pickup: our transfer collects you from your hotel; the exact arrangements are confirmed personally when you book. We run sessions in the morning, late morning and afternoon, so you can pick the slot that fits nap schedules or beach plans.
- Briefing and test drive: at our safari station in the countryside, instructors kit everyone out — helmets are strictly mandatory — brief the group, and run the supervised practice laps.
- The ride: one and a half to two hours through the forest tracks below the Taurus Mountains, with mud and water splashes that kids talk about for the rest of the trip.
- Clean-up: free showers and changing cabins at the base mean muddy children go in and clean children come out before the drive back.
- Return transfer to your hotel.
Who It Suits: and Who Should Think Twice
Great fit: families with children aged 6 and up, teens of 16+ itching to drive their own machine, couples wanting a half-day adrenaline hit, and complete beginners of any age who fancy trying something new with proper instruction.
Think twice: anyone with back or neck problems who wants to drive (ride as a passenger instead), guests who hate getting dirty (there is no clean version of this tour), and families with children under 6, who cannot join as passengers. If that is your situation, the coast has gentler options: our complete Side excursions guide maps them all out.
