Is the bazaar part of the ticket, and how cold is that river swim? Questions like those reach us by phone, on the WhatsApp line and at the pier before the Manavgat river-and-bazaar day. The answers below carry no sales gloss.
How long does the Manavgat tour last?
From Side, it's a full-day outing of roughly ten hours: hotel pickup, the boat casting off mid-morning, the river cruise, lunch, foam party and two hours at the bazaar before drop-off. The Alanya version runs about nine hours, including the coach transfer through the mountains and the Green Canyon lake cruise.
How much does it cost?
From Side: €21 per adult, €15 per child, infants free. From Alanya: €43 per adult, €30 per child, with infants aged 0–3 free and children 4–11 on the child rate. Full breakdown of what's included, and the few things that aren't, in our Manavgat prices guide.
Which days does the Manavgat Grand Bazaar run?
This is the one that catches people out: the Grand Bazaar is held only on Mondays and Thursdays. If wandering the market, with two full hours of free time on the Side tour, is a priority, book for one of those days.
Is lunch really included?
Yes, on both tours. From Side it's a freshly cooked lunch served right on deck; from Alanya it's an open buffet of Turkish dishes served on board as the mountains drift past. Drinks are not included on either tour: buy them from the onboard bar.
Can we swim, and where?
Yes. The Side cruise stops at the river mouth, the spot locals call the Bosphorus, where the icy, crystal-clear fresh water of the river meets the warm, salty Mediterranean, sometimes just a stroke apart. The Alanya trip anchors at quiet coves on the Green Canyon dam lake for swims in jade-green mountain water. Bring swimwear and a towel; see our packing guide.
Is the sea rough? I get seasick easily.
The Manavgat River is calm: we specifically recommend this tour to guests who prefer to avoid rough open sea. The Side boat does slip into open water for the foam party, but the bulk of the day is gentle river and delta cruising. The Alanya route is a dam lake: mirror-calm.
Can we visit the Manavgat Waterfall?
From Side: yes, as an optional add-on during your bazaar free time: the guide can arrange the short transfer, and the transfer plus national park entrance fee are paid on the day. From Alanya: the cruise takes you toward the waterfall itself, though the entrance ticket is excluded from the tour price.
Is it suitable for children?
Very. The calm river, the foam party and the colourful market make it one of our most family-friendly days out: infants travel free on both tours. For an honest look at ages, energy levels and pacing, read the first-timer and family guide.
Is hotel pickup included, and when will we be collected?
Round-trip air-conditioned hotel pickup and drop-off is included on both tours. The exact pickup time for your hotel is confirmed personally the evening before: every hotel is at a different point on the route, so we don't publish one-size-fits-all times.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Both tours carry free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Reservation is free and you pay on the tour day: we're Atalay Tours, the direct local operator, so there's no prepayment and no middleman to argue with.
How big is the boat, and how do we book?
The Side boat takes up to 40 guests: roomy without being a floating stadium. Booking takes a minute online, or message our team directly and we'll confirm your spot and pickup details. If you're weighing Manavgat against the other big day trips from the resort, our complete Side excursions guide lays them all side by side.
