The Experience
This is the short version of a boat day, and that is the whole point of it. Four and a half to five hours from pickup to drop-off, which with small children, or in the middle of a hot August, is often the more sensible choice than committing to a full day. The air-conditioned drive up from Evrenseki gains enough height that the temperature changes on the way. At the top is the lake the Oymapınar Dam raised behind Side: deep green, motionless, framed by steep rock walls. The catamaran is wide, steady and slow enough that nobody has to raise their voice. It stops twice for swimming, and the mountain water is noticeably colder than the sea, which in high summer is the real attraction. If you would rather fish than swim, tackle is on board.
