The Experience
The part of this cruise people describe afterwards is not the wide open water. It is the narrow passages, where the captain lines the boat up between rock walls and everyone stops talking. The Green Canyon reservoir is threaded with them, along with trout farms still working the cold water down in the gorge. Getting there is simple. We pick up from hotels in Kumköy and the resorts nearby, drive inland towards Manavgat as the coast gives way to pine forest, and put you aboard at the Oymapınar Dam. The whole outing runs about seven hours. Lunch aboard is a proper Turkish grill, usually fish or chicken with rice and fresh salad, and it is included, as are the swim stops, the English-speaking guide, the return transfer and local travel insurance. Drinks aboard are not, and neither are tea-garden stops, photo and video service or tips. We would rather list those plainly than surprise you. Adults are €33 and children €20, with infants under four free and four to eleven year olds at the child rate. If that is more than you wanted to spend, say so: we run a lower-priced canyon day out of Kumköy as well, and moving you across is no trouble. Whichever you take, the reservoir stays cool all year, deck shoes with some grip are worth packing, and you pay us on the day rather than in advance.
