The Experience
Aimed squarely at younger children, this is the smaller and gentler of the two pirate ships we sail on this coast: simple games, a crew who never break character, and an afternoon finish before anyone melts down. If your kids are older and want a full-day galleon with a foam party, ask us for the other ship instead. It begins with an air-conditioned car from your hotel in Side and a short run to the harbour, where a very loudly decorated vessel is waiting. Costumes are handed to the children as they board, and you are welcome to bring a favourite from home. After that the deck is theirs: treasure hunts, face painting, dancing, shows and a great deal of shouting. Between the games the ship works along the coast and stops so everyone can get in the water. Snorkelling is easy here, and parents finally get to lie flat. Lunch is served on board with soft drinks, from a menu chosen for children rather than food critics. Reckon on five to six hours, morning to afternoon. Parents stay with their own children throughout; the crew entertain, they do not childmind. Extra drinks, tips and personal spending are the only things outside the price. We are the operator, and there is nothing to pay until the day.
