The Experience
Seven hours makes this the shortest of our rafting combinations, and the base is organised around not wasting any of them. Groups arriving together get split: half go to the river first, half to the off-road track, and the two swap over. It is a small piece of planning, and on a busy summer morning it is the difference between doing things and queueing for them. The rafting leg covers twelve kilometres of cold canyon water. An experienced river instructor sits in every boat and steers it, so paddling is a team job rather than a test. Helmets, life jackets and paddles come out of the store at the base and stay on for the whole descent. The buggy leg lasts forty minutes on dusty forest trails inside the national park. The machines are straightforward to handle and nobody is pushed into driving one — it comes down to how confident you feel behind the wheel, and riding as a passenger is completely ordinary here. Lunch by the river is included, along with the round trip from any hotel in Side and full insurance. Photographs and video, soft and alcoholic drinks and your own spending are not, and nothing else appears at the base. Adults pay €35 and children aged 4 to 11 pay €21; from 12 the adult rate applies, and under-fours should sit this one out. Collections run through the morning, your own time comes to you personally after booking, and payment waits until the day.
