Side Turkish Bath FAQ: 12 Real Questions, Answered by Locals

Do you have to be naked? Can kids come? What if it rains? Twelve real questions about the Side Turkish bath answered plainly by the local operator: swimwear stays on, pickup is confirmed personally after booking, the hamam is your best rainy-day plan, reservation is free and you pay on the day.

Your Side Hamam Questions, Answered Straight

"Do I have to be naked in a Turkish bath?" is the question guests lower their voice to ask, and it is the first one answered below. The rest cover what people want to know before booking the Side Turkish Bath & Spa Day, answered by the people who run it, not by a call centre reading a script.

Do I have to be naked in a Turkish bath?

No. Guests wear swimwear throughout all the treatments, and the traditional cotton pestemal wrap and towels are provided. If that was the question stopping you from booking, consider it settled, and see our what to bring guide for the rest of the (very short) packing list.

Which hotels and areas do you pick up from?

Air-conditioned pickup and drop-off is included from the Side resort areas, Kumköy, Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Sorgun and Titreyengöl among them. If your hotel is somewhere else nearby, ask us when booking and we will tell you honestly whether we can collect you.

What time is my pickup?

The hamam runs flexible time slots through the whole day, so your spa break can fit around beach mornings or an evening out. We do not print a generic clock time here because it depends on your slot and your hotel: your exact pickup is confirmed with you personally after booking, so you always know your own time, not an estimate.

How long does the whole thing take?

The core programme is listed at 2 hours, and with hotel transfers you should allow a relaxed half day. The Premium Spa Day runs about an hour longer than the classic ritual: the extra time goes into your full massage, and nothing feels rushed.

What is the difference between the Classic Ritual and the Premium Spa Day?

Both start identically: sauna, steam room, kese peeling and foam massage on the warm marble. The classic ritual then adds a 30-minute aloe vera gel massage, a face mask and doctor fish therapy. The premium day swaps in a full massage in your chosen style — Balinese or Thai among them — plus a fruit plate with tea, a face mask and a personal digital safebox.

Can children come?

The bath itself suits older children accompanied by an adult, but the massage stages are designed for adults. The listed price bands are adult (ages 6–99) at €20 and infants (0–3) free. Tell us your children's ages when you book and we will confirm honestly what works: our first-timer and family guide covers this in detail.

I have a health condition: is the hamam safe for me?

The hamam is not suitable for guests with heart problems. If you are sensitive to heat or humidity, or pregnant, check with your doctor before booking. This is a genuine heat experience — sauna, steam, warm marble — and we would rather lose a booking than have you uncomfortable.

What about wheelchair or limited-mobility access?

Mobility access varies by venue. Contact us before booking, describe what you need, and we will advise you honestly on whether the setup works for you.

Can I request a female attendant?

Yes. Traditional hamams have separate sections, and a female attendant can be requested, just mention it when booking and we will arrange it.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Nothing, that is the beauty of it. The hamam is entirely indoors, which makes it the single best excursion to hold in reserve for a grey or windy day. Many guests book it precisely as their weather insurance. If a change of plan does force your hand, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start.

When and how do I pay?

Reservation is free, no deposit, no card charge. You pay on the day of your visit. Extras at the venue (drinks, additional massage types, tips for the attendants, customary but entirely optional) are paid on the spot. The full arithmetic is in our price guide.

Should I eat before I come?

Only lightly. A heavy meal and a steam room are a bad marriage, have a light bite an hour or two before your session and you will enjoy every stage.

Still Unsure?

Ask us directly, as a local operator we answer specifics rather than send links. Booking takes two minutes on the tour page, costs nothing today, and cancels free up to 24 hours ahead. For the wider picture of what Side offers beyond the marble, browse our complete local guide to Side excursions.
