Rafting from Side: Your Questions, Answered Straight

Cost comes first in almost every rafting message we get, then cancellation, then pickup. Those are the questions our team fields at the office, on WhatsApp and at hotel lobbies across Side, and the answers below come directly from our tour information and our house booking policy.

How much does rafting cost from Side?

Our Köprülü Canyon rafting tour is €20 per adult, €12 per child, and free for infants. The rafting and jeep safari combo is €28 per adult and €17 per child. Both are 7-hour days including hotel transfer, lunch, all safety equipment, and certified guides. The full breakdown is in our rafting prices guide.

Do I have to pay in advance?

No. Reservation is free and you pay on the tour day. We are Atalay Tours, the direct local operator, no middlemen, no prepayment portals, no hidden costs.

What if my plans change: can I cancel?

Yes. You have free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour. Just send us a message and the booking is released, with nothing owed.

Do you pick up from my hotel?

Yes, two-way hotel transfer is included, in air-conditioned vehicles on the classic tour and in open-top jeeps on the combo. Pickup covers Side and the surrounding resort areas along this stretch of the coast.

What time will I be picked up?

Pickup times vary by hotel and route, so we do not print a clock time that might be wrong for your street. Instead, your exact pickup is confirmed personally the evening before the tour. Plan for a full day: the tour lasts 7 hours door to door, and you are back in Side by the evening hours.

Do I need any rafting experience?

None at all. The tour notes state it directly: prior rafting experience is not required. Before launch, certified guides give a briefing on paddling commands and core safety rules, and every 6–8 person boat has its own expert guide aboard.

Do I need to be a swimmer?

You wear a life vest at all times, and the tour information notes that non-swimmers can safely join thanks to the vests and guide supervision, while also advising that basic swimming skills matter for your comfort and safety in the water. Our honest advice: if you are relaxed in water, you will love every minute; if you cannot swim at all, tell us when you book so your guide knows and keeps you close.

Can children join? What are the age rules?

Yes: the 12 km route is class II–III, described in the tour itself as thrilling yet completely family-safe. On our combo tour, guests aged 4–11 are counted in the child category, and in line with international safety standards children aged 0–4 are not recommended to take part in the rafting activity. More on this in our first-timer and family guide.

Is anyone advised not to join?

Yes, and we would rather tell you now than at the riverbank: the tour is not suitable for pregnant women or guests with serious heart conditions, asthma, or similar health issues.

What happens in bad weather?

Köprülü Canyon is fed by the Taurus Mountains, so the river keeps a vigorous, guaranteed flow even in the hottest, driest summer months, low water is simply not an issue here. Summer rain rarely stops a trip (you are getting soaked anyway). In the rare case that conditions are not right to run safely, our guides make that call, and our free-cancellation policy means you are never locked into a paid ticket regardless.

What should I wear and bring?

Shorts, T-shirt and swimwear; pack a towel, dry change of clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a waterproof bag. Skip the flip-flops, non-slip water shoes are available to rent or buy at the base. The full checklist is in what to bring and wear for rafting.

Can I take photos on the river?

Better: professional photographers work along the course and capture your boat mid-rapid, so you can leave your phone safely at the hotel. Photo and video packages are an optional extra purchase.

Is lunch really included?

Yes: a freshly cooked, home-style lunch served in the shade by the riverside is included in the price on both tours. Drinks are paid separately.

Rafting only, or the jeep safari combo: which should I pick?

If rafting is the main event of your holiday, take the classic tour. If you want your day to work harder, rafting plus an off-road jeep safari through Beşkonak's riverbeds for €8 more per adult, take the combo. Either way, the full comparison weighs both, and the season guide covers how the river and the crowds change through the year.
