The Experience
This one runs the day in the opposite order to most: the open-top jeep comes first and the river comes afterwards. Collection is from your accommodation in Evrenseki early in the morning, and the road climbs into the Taurus until it reaches our riverside restaurant inside the Beşkonak stretch of Köprülü Canyon National Park. The safari half puts you in a jeep with an experienced driver at the wheel, across rough ground and through shallow riverbeds, with a stop at the ancient Roman bridge — a rare piece of history in the middle of all that noise and dust. Nothing on this tour asks you to drive anything yourself, which is worth knowing if that is the thing that has been putting you off a combination day. Back at base camp, certified instructors run the safety briefing and hand out helmet, life jacket and paddle before you launch into the canyon. Lunch follows at the restaurant. Zipline and quad rides can be added on site subject to availability; those cost extra, as do drinks, photographs and anything personal, and that is the entire list. The tour goes out every day of the week. Adults €40, children aged 4 to 11 €24, and rafting is not recommended below four years old. Bring outdoor clothes you can soak, water-resistant shoes, sunglasses and a dry change. You pay us on the day, not before.
