The Experience
What separates the Manavgat day from the other jeep-and-rafting combinations is what happens between the rapids. The run of roughly twelve kilometres is broken up with swimming stops and cliff jumps into the river — optional, supervised, and the part people describe first when they get home. The morning belongs to the jeep. Open-topped, it leaves your accommodation in Manavgat and heads up through terrain that ordinary vehicles cannot manage: loose stone, dusty tracks, shallow riverbeds to splash across. The Mediterranean spreads out behind you as the road climbs. Trained river instructors then take over at Beşkonak, in the Köprülü canyon. Helmets, paddles and life jackets are handed out and included in what you pay, the boat only works as a team, and lunch is served during the break in a quiet spot among the trees. Nine hours, adults €40, children aged 4 to 11 €24, and rafting is not recommended below four years old. A zipline can be arranged at the canyon for an extra fee; that, plus drinks, photographs and your own spending, is the complete list of things you might pay for on the day, and we would rather print it than let you discover it at the base. Bring comfortable clothes, water-resistant shoes, sunglasses and a dry set for the drive home. Booking costs nothing and you settle up on the day of the tour.
