Dive the Side Underwater Museum: Two Dives over the Sunken Sculptures

The Experience
The exhibits lie at 12 to 13 metres, and the afternoon dive is the one that reaches them. You glide over sunken figures and relics of a museum that exists only for divers, in a group of no more than three or four with a certified divemaster. The morning is deliberately easier: 5 to 8 metres, 15 to 25 minutes, long enough to get used to breathing slowly and to the way the light behaves down there. Nobody expects prior experience. Before anything else the instructor talks the whole group through regulator breathing, the handful of signals used underwater, and how the kit should sit. Everything professional is supplied, wetsuits included, along with passenger and diving insurance. Divers who already hold a card get their logbook signed and stamped; anyone wanting more can take the first step towards CMAS certification, the course itself being charged separately. Not everyone on board has to get wet. Guests who would rather stay dry book as visitors at a reduced rate and still get the cruise, the snorkelling gear, the deck and the lunch served on board. Return transfer from your hotel in Side is included, with the collection agreed with you after booking. Beverages, underwater photos and video and personal spending are extra. Skip the dive if you are pregnant or have severe asthma, heart or respiratory conditions, and do not fly for 24 hours afterwards. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, sunscreen and your logbook.
