Licence: you do not arrange one
Nothing in either booking asks you for a fishing licence, a permit number or paperwork of any kind. You join a licensed commercial boat as a guest, the captain and crew hold the permissions the trip runs under, and all professional rods, lines and fresh bait are supplied on board. You bring yourself, a hat and sunscreen.
Cooking your catch: read this before you picture it
Neither the Side deep sea fishing trip nor the Alanya fishing trip promises to cook what you land. On the Side boat the food on board is a complimentary Turkish breakfast of simit and hot tea — no lunch is included at all, though you are genuinely welcome to bring your own snacks, meals and cold drinks aboard. On the Alanya boat a hot lunch is served on deck, and it is the galley's meal rather than your bream.
Ask the crew on the day by all means, and be delighted if it happens. But book these trips for the fishing and the morning at sea, not for the promise of eating your own catch — because that promise is not in either package, and we will not sell you one we cannot keep.
What each trip actually includes
Side deep sea fishing — €45 per person
- Around six hours, with an early hotel pickup from Side and a return between 12:30 and 13:00, so the rest of the day is yours.
- Boat capacity strictly limited to 12 guests — small, calm and unhurried.
- All professional tackle, lines and fresh bait, plus hands-on help from the captain.
- Complimentary simit and hot tea on deck; cold drinks available to buy on board.
- Round-trip transfer from and to your hotel in Side in an air-conditioned vehicle.
- Not included: lunch and additional meals, cold drinks, personal expenses and tips. Children's rates are confirmed when you book.
Alanya fishing trip — €50 per adult, €35 per child, infants free
- Around six hours on the water from Alanya harbour. The child rate covers ages 4–11; infants aged 0–3 travel free.
- Fishing rods, bait and basic tackle, with an experienced crew and skipper guiding every skill level.
- Hot lunch served on board and a swimming stop in a sheltered bay.
- Round-trip hotel transfer in air-conditioned vehicles from central Alanya, and boat excursion insurance.
- Not included: drinks and bar service, extra or premium bait, photo and video service, tips.
Do you need any experience?
None. On both boats the crew baits your hook, shows you how to cast and reel, and handles the rest — complete beginners and seasoned anglers fish side by side. Non-swimmers are fine on the Alanya trip too, since all the fishing is done from the boat.
What you might actually catch
Off Side it is common to reel in red mullet, sea bass, sea bream and even shrimp, alongside smaller colourful species and the occasional larger surprise; the captain chooses the spots. Off Alanya you can hook species such as yellowfin, sea bream, sea bass and bream. What you land depends entirely on the sea and weather on the day, and nobody sensible guarantees a particular fish.
Who should not book a fishing trip here
- Anyone booking for the meal. The Side trip serves simit and tea; the Alanya lunch is not your catch.
- Late risers. The Side departure is early, deliberately, for the fishing light.
- Guests who want a swim on the Side boat. A swimming stop is part of the Alanya trip, not the Side one — book Alanya if the day needs a swim in it.
- Anyone prone to seasickness. Open water off Alanya can get choppy; motion-sickness tablets help, and taking them before you sail helps more.
- Serious sport anglers expecting big-game tackle and trophy targets. These are relaxed coastal trips with supplied gear.
- Large groups wanting the boat to themselves on the Side trip — twelve seats is the hard limit.
Book a morning at sea
Take the small-boat option on the Side deep sea fishing trip, or the lunch-and-swim version on the Alanya fishing trip. Both sit alongside our other days on the water in boat trips on the Antalya coast, and you will find the rest of the Alanya programme under Alanya tours and excursions.
