Some places on the Turkish Riviera still feel like a secret, and Sapadere is one of them. Tucked into the Taurus Mountains near Alanya's Demirtaş district, this narrow gorge hides rushing water, sheer rock walls rising up to 400 metres, and waterfall pools so cold they make you gasp — the perfect antidote to a hot beach week.
Your day starts with a morning pickup after breakfast time from the main gate of your hotel, whether you are staying around Side or in Alanya. On the drive inland we make a comfort stop where you can stretch your legs or grab an optional breakfast, then the road leaves the coast behind and climbs through forest towards Sapadere village. There you step onto the canyon's famous wooden boardwalk, suspended directly above the river. The walk is easy and needs no hiking experience: you simply follow the walkway deeper into the gorge until it ends at a chain of waterfalls and natural swimming pools. Brave the famously icy water for a dip you will talk about all holiday, or find a viewing platform, listen to the river and fill your camera roll.
A short walk through the trees brings you to the Cüceler Cave — the 'Dwarves Cave' — a small underground world of stalactites and stalagmites with a viewing terrace at its entrance. Entry is optional and paid locally, and well worth it for cave lovers. Lunch is included at a restaurant in the Alanya region: grilled fish or chicken, with vegetarian options available on request. Your professional local guide stays with the group all day, sharing the stories of the canyon before the afternoon drive back to your hotel.
Reservation is free and you pay on the tour day, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure — lock in your canyon day and stay flexible.
